The compound formed when the hydrogen atom of the carboxyl group of organic acid is replaced with the alkyl group is called ester.
The general molecular signal of the ester is CnH2nO2. The effective function of ester is -COOR. This radical is commonly called carboalcoxy radical. If R = CH3, then -COOCH3 is found, and if R = C2H5, then -COOC2H5 is found.
